Hi Ravi,
I am currently working on something very similar. Please let me know if the scenarios are the same. We are retro-actively are adding a depreciation area or two to existing assets in SAP. We will need to assign values to the new depreciation areas.
We are going to utilize LSMW for the transfer of this data. I see from your post you can use AS92 though some advise not to for whatever reasons.
I'm assuming you used substitution to change the keys for the new area to XXXX, correct?
Please correct me if I am wrong but it appears you changed the key to XXXX to accomodate all PY values(Opening Balances and accumulated depreciation). You then closed it and opened the new one. Then in the Current FY, you updated the keys to their requirements probably u sing substitution as well.
Can you tell me a little more about the transaction type you used? I understand tho create one that post only to the new area but from what I read it doesn't appear that you went the post-cap route as others had suggested.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
jack
